CLOSURE due to COVID 19 Virus
Dear BFTS Patrons, Volunteers, and Visitors
Based on the latest information and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the COVID19 Virus, the BFTS Museum Board has decided to close the museum beginning Wednesday, March 18, through Tuesday, March 31. This closure is not based on any presumptive or confirmed case of COVID19 with those in or around our museum, but based on CDC recommendations.
CDC recommendations are changing on a daily basis and the BFTS Museum staff and Board are monitoring the situation. The Board will make further decisions regarding possibly extending the museum closure, cancelling the Hangar Dance and postponing or canceling any other scheduled events, in the coming days.
We thank you for your patience and understanding in these unprecedented times.
NO. 1 BRITISH FLYING
TRAINING SCHOOL MUSEUM
At the beginning of the second world war, the UK realized the need to train a large number of pilots. Thanks to the Lend Lease Agreement, the British Flying Training Schools were set up across the southern United States. The first opened in Terrell, TX. Come learn about this little known part of history!
We believe in the power of education. One of our top priorities is to bring a love of history and aviation to a new generation.
We are always looking for volunteers to support our day-to-day operations and help with our events!
Join us for any one of our upcoming events to celebrate the legacy left behind.
