The Only Surviving School of Its Kind

The No. 1 BFTS Museum is the only surviving physical example of a unique global, national, and regional story — the United States’ role in training Royal Air Force cadets to fly in defense of the United Kingdom against the Axis powers during World War II.

The first of six British Flying Training Schools established in the United States, No. 1 BFTS celebrates not only this piece of our nation’s history but our country’s enduring ties with Canada and the United Kingdom — and the role the community of Terrell played in the program’s success and in the Museum’s continued support.

Your support is crucial to keeping this important piece of our nation’s history, and Terrell’s, alive through artifact preservation, education programs, exhibits, and special events.

Where Your Membership Dollars Go

Your tax-deductible membership lasts a full twelve (12) months, and your membership dollars support a variety of operational needs, such as:

  • Materials for youth and student group tours
  • Design and creation of rotating displays
  • Enhancements to the visitor experience
  • Digitization and preservation of items in the collection
  • Funding support for educational programs and special events
Additionally, 10% of each membership is dedicated to the “Old 42” Stearman maintenance fund. Please contact the Executive Director for details about a separate donation opportunity for the Stearman maintenance program.

Membership Levels

Each Patron level takes its name from the Royal Air Force ranks the cadets who trained at Terrell aspired to. The higher the rank, the deeper your support — and every membership is tax-deductible and runs a full twelve months.
