The museum is located at 119 Silent Wings Blvd., Terrell, TX 75160, on the grounds of the Terrell Municipal Airport (KTRL) — just 30 miles east of Dallas, an easy 35-minute drive.

Plan About 60–90 Minutes
A self-guided tour through the museum's exhibits typically takes about one hour. History buffs and aviation enthusiasts often find themselves staying even longer to explore the archival materials and aircraft up close. Guided tours for groups can be arranged in advance.
Must-See Highlights
Do not miss the original WWII training aircraft, personal letters and diaries from British cadets, and the wall of photos documenting the friendships formed between Terrell residents and the young men who came from across the sea to learn to fly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an admission fee?
No. Admission to the No. 1 BFTS Museum is always free. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and welcome donations of any amount to help us continue preserving this history.
How long does a visit take?
Between the introductory video, a docent led big picture tour, and exploring in detail, you can spend at least an hour and likely longer in the Museum. If you have a limited amount of time, watch the introductory and take a spin through the Museum. You will see just enough to make you want to return!
Is the museum appropriate for children?
The Museum is a World War II Museum with vintage artifacts on display and descriptive material to be read. It may be difficult to keep younger children entertained.
Do you offer guided tours?
The Museum offers guided tours based on the availability of a docent. If you are planning a visit and call ahead, we will ensure a docent will be on hand to provide a guided tour.
Is the museum wheelchair accessible?
The museum is wheelchair accessible with wide aisles throughout the exhibit space.
Can I fly into the Terrell Municipal Airport to visit?
Absolutely! There are several options for our fly-in guests. Apex Aero is a full service FBO with offices in the terminal. Call them to reserve the courtesy car. After you have toured the Museum, visit downtown Terrell. Our fly-in guests can also taxi to the north end via the taxilane parallel to taxiway A and park between the two blue buildings. Give us a call and we will unlock the back door!
